how this conference came to be. . . .
The idea for this conference came when I learned my husband, Bill, everyday was telling my teenaged daughter, Josie, as he dropped her off at school, “Now go be Josie.”
Wow! I thought. What an amazing charge to give to someone. Go be who you are. Not who others want you to be or expect you to be, but who you are. Who God made you to be. I wondered what it would have been like for me to have had a father who implicitly told me that I was good enough as I was. No need to be someone else or pretend to be something I wasn’t. The permission of that simple statement struck me. Be me.
I teared up as I realized the gift my daughter had been given by her father everyday – something I had never been given until I married my husband. I didn’t need to be perfect. I was good enough. It made me think of how many young women struggle with acceptance of who they are and who God made them to be. I wanted every woman to hear “be. you.”
How could I not propose a conference that would allow young women to come and be uplifted and encouraged to embrace who they are and understand how God desires the very best for them? The world and social media can fill our minds with so many damaging messages that diminish our worth and erode our confidence.
I want each woman to find her true “beauty that comes from within.” I Peter 3:4
To myself, my daughter, and all the women who, even at times, question their worth – know that you are beautiful just as God made you. You have been blessed, more than you can possibly comprehend, by a God who calls you His beloved. (I John 3:2) Welcome to a place where you can just be. Now go be. (insert your name!)
Because of His Grace,
